Chased by The Rafale, The Pilot of The Small Plane Panicked and Threw Away The White Powder Packets
A small plane flew into French airspace on Saturday. Although prohibited by air traffic services, the plane continued to fly until it crossed the Fessenheim nuclear power plant in France.
Not wanting to take any chances, the French Air Force immediately launched Rafale fighter jets from Saint-Dizier Air Base into the air to chase and intercept the propeller-engined plane.
“Air traffic services encountered unusual behavior, in particular the fact that the aircraft was flying over the Fessenheim area and its route was not in accordance with the flight plan.
In addition, their radio communications are highly questionable," a French military spokesperson was quoted as saying by French media.
When approaching the small plane, the Rafale pilot watched the small plane pilot.
When the pilot of the civilian plane saw the presence of the Rafale fighter jet, he started to look panicked.
Shortly thereafter the pilot of the civil plane opened the plane door and dropped several packages.
The location where the pilot dropped the packages was then reported by the Rafale pilot to the French Gendarmerie.
From there, officers on the ground found about fifteen thirty-kilogram packages of prohibited drugs, the packages containing white powder.
While the small plane pilot then landed his plane at Aubenas Airfield in Ardèche.
After being questioned, the Polish pilot was arrested.
On his plane, around €45,000 in cash was found.
The incident follows the discovery of more than two tons of cocaine on beaches in northern France in March.
The French Interior Ministry said that in 2023 state authorities managed to seize 156.7 tons of drugs.
